35th ANNUAL CONVENTION
NOVEMBER 12 & 134, 2010 HOLIDAY INN,
MANITOWOC
Lions, Lioness and Leos
of 27-B1 and friends of B1, District Governor Jerry cordially invites you to
attend the 35th Annual Convention of District 27-B1 at the Holiday
Inn in Manitowoc.
ATTENTION: Hotel Room
reservations are currently being accepted by calling the Holiday Inn
(920) 682-6000. Mention you are with the Lions District to get the
special rate of $72.00.
ATTENTION: Please
note, the Convention Registration form. You may select your meals and
register using this form. The Convention Registration fee remains at $8.00
for Lions, Lioness and adult guests. Children and Leos may register for
$2.00. (Food for thought - most clubs pay for their member’s registrations
to encourage attendance.) However, also remember that even if you come just for
the Friday hospitality or late on Saturday just to vote, you are still required
to register and pay the $8 fee, so come early and enjoy yourself. The
registration form is enclosed, can be found on line, or in the state newspaper.
EVENT:
Registration begins Friday 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. until
12:00 p.m.
The
traditional Friday night Fish buffet is only $15.00 and features the
Holiday Inn Friday Fish Fry buffet. This is open to anyone who would like to
come early to meet our District Governor Jerry and International Director Gary
D’Orazio from Eagle, Idaho. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Friday
night hospitality opens at 7 p.m. and will go to 11 p.m. Your $8 registration
includes beer and soda all night in the hospitality room! There will also be a
50/50 and a Lioness Raffle. This year’s Friday night theme is “CHILDHOOD
HEROES”. So come in your favorite super hero costume! There will also be a
chance to display your bowling skills as we will have 4 Wii games set up for
your enjoyment.
Every
club is asked to bring a gift to be included in our successful “Bucket
Raffle.” Bring something you’d like to win!
Saturday
begins with free coffee, juice, rolls and fruit for registered attendees
starting at 7:30 a.m. The opening business session will begin at 8:30 a.m. The
Saturday Luncheon fee is $14.00 and the Governor’s Evening Banquet is
$25.00.
Outstanding
seminars have been planned again this year and will focus on the Convention
Theme – “LIONS: MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE”. The Parade of Checks will
follow the Necrology Service at the end of the Saturday luncheon. Voting
follows the last set of seminars on Saturday. The Convention Banquet will be in
the ballroom at 6:30.The District Raffle will be drawn after dinner.
A
District Governor, a Vice District Governor and a Wisconsin Lions Foundation
Director will be elected at this convention. We will also choose a bowling host
for the annual District Bowling Tournament. Any Lion or Lioness Club in the
district can be a host. Nomination papers must be submitted to Governor Jerry,
election chairperson Ralph Schneider, and the State Office 30 days prior to the
convention (by October 12th).
The
2010-11District Pin will be offered for sale at this convention. Get your
designs ready as well, as the District Pin Contest will be part of the ballot
for the calendar year 2012 pin. A $25 prize will again be awarded. Bring your
entries and good luck!
Don’t
forget to sell ads for our convention booklet. Clubs may again keep 40% of the
ad fee. The full-price fees you need to charge are: Booklet covers - $135; full
page - $110; 1/2 page - $75; 1/4 page - $45;and a 1/8th page is $30. You keep
40% of this fee for your club and mail in the balance with the ad. Deadline is
Oct. 19 to Gary Silah, address below. Again this year is the chance to
honor club members in the convention book. For $25 each ½” ad you can
honor a member. The ad will be prominently placed in the booklet so please
consider this as a nice way to recognize a hard-working member. (The 40%
discount does NOT count for this ad)
Please
remember to begin your Peace Poster contest preparations now. Write to Lions
International and get your kit for your school so that you can contact your
local school first thing when school begins. Yes, it is a contest, but we really
want to get the kids thinking of peace. Sponsor your own prizes so someone at
your school wins.
